Prof. Dr. Marc Thill, MD, PhD, is director of the Department of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology and serves as the spokesperson of the Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer and the Oncological Center at the Agaplesion Markus Hospital in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1996 he started his career in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Klinikum Offenbach and founded the Breast Cancer Centre Offenbach in 2005. In 2007 he continued his work in the Department of OB/GYN at the University Hospital Schleswig Holstein, Campus Lübeck as a leading senior consultant. In 2009, he established and led the Gynecological Cancer Centre Lübeck, and in 2010, he also took charge of the Breast Cancer Centre in Lübeck. He earned his PhD in 2010 and joined Agaplesion Markus Hospital in 2012.
Prof. Thill specializes in gynecological oncology and is a certified robotic surgeon, as well as an AWOgyn-certified breast surgeon and gynecological reconstructive surgeon. His research focuses on the surgical and systemic treatment of breast cancer. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the scientific sub-board of the German Breast Group, the AGO-B Study Group, the breast cancer guideline committee of the German Association of Gynecological Oncology (AGO), the German S3 guideline committee, and the board of directors of the German Association of Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Gynecology (AWOgyn). He also serves on the board of directors of the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the German Association of Leading Physicians in Gynecology and Obstetrics (BLFG), among numerous other national and international societies.
His scientific focus is on surgical and systemic treatment of breast cancer. He is a member of the scientific sub-board of the German Breast Group, member of the AGO-B Study Group, member of the breast cancer guideline committee of the German Association of Gynecological Oncology (AGO), member of the German S3 guideline committee, member of the board of directors of the German Association of Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Gynecology (AWOgyn), member of the board of directors of the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, member of the board of directors of the German Association of Leading Physicians in Gynecology and Obstetrics (BLFG) and member of numerous other national and international societies.
Additionally, he is the study director, coordinator, and principal investigator for numerous national and international clinical trials, with 34 clinical trials currently underway in his department's trial center. He has authored and co-authored 230 original and review articles and 215 citable presentations at national and international congresses and meetings, and has delivered over 1,000 invited talks worldwide.
